Halloween wreath

I have never made a wreath before and I actually really liked it! I see more wreath-making in the near future! I got the idea for this wreath from here. But I don't know how to crochet so I made my flowers out of felt (directions here) and made my spider out of pom-poms and pipe cleaners. I hung the wreath with some thick velvet ribbon.
Beautimous!
I wrapped one of those green styrofoam wreaths with yarn. I did a streak of glue on the back as I wrapped it. I did about 3 layers of single file yarn wrapping so it was nice and smooth and it was thicker and fully covered (no green styrofoam showing!).
My felt flower creations. They are kinda hard to see because they are black.
My pom-pom spider. I got some pom-pom makers from joann's and made this bad boy. He has a small head and a big body if you can't tell from the picture. I attached the head to the body with a hot glue gun and then just stuck the pipe cleaners straight through and made them into legs. I needled some yarn and stuck it through the pom-pom and tied a knot to hang him from the wreath.
Little lonely rose ...

TV Stand

Am I lucky or what? I'm pretty sure I know I have the best hubby in the whole entire world. He made me a TV stand to prevent "The Destructor" from destroying our tv stuff haha.

The Destructor Baby boy helping daddy

Before: Good and it worked for us for a long time but now since the boy is ultra curious and mobile he gets into all of the dvd's and wii stuff so we needed something that we could close shut. Garrett also put glass in front of the DVR, blu-ray and wii so that there won't be any button pushing!
Voila! Thanks hubby!

Halloween Banner

I got my idea here from Pinterest for a Halloween banner and I think it turned out pretty cute :-) I did my triangles 5" by 7" out of paper and used some various die cuts or just free handed the cut out shapes I used. I also used permanent marker on a lot of it for the little details.
This is how my halloween banner turned out. I still want to put it on a ribbon or some type of cord but I just haven't gotten around to it yet so they are taped up to the wall for now. I did a skull, witch, cat, candy corn, werewolf, vampire, frankenstein, ghost, pumpkin, owl, and a bat.

DIY Glitter Nails

I'm sure most of you have heard of glitter nails or gel nails. Well I have gotten them before and not only are they kinda pricey but I don't like how thick they are and hard to get off. To me, they are essentially acrylics with glitter in them. Although I love glitter, I am not a fan of acrylics because they drive me crazy! So my sister in law Cami showed me how to do my own glitter nails which don't cost me anything and are a nice thin layer of polish and glitter.
Glittertastic! I think I used the color Aquamarine for these bad boys.
I used Martha Stewart glitter because it is an ultra fine texture and she has a lot of great colors. You can find her glitter at Michael's. I got the glitter kit above a while ago and used a 40% off coupon for it so it wasn't that much money. Michael's will accept competitors coupons so if you have one for Joann's you can use it!

I used this clear nail polish because it's nice and heavy duty. If I were you I would put a piece of paper under the spot where you will be doing your nails so glitter doesn't get everywhere and when you are done you can shake the excess glitter back into the bottle.

DIRECTIONS:
  1. First, I did a layer of the clear nail polish.
  2. Then, I immediately shook some of the glitter onto the wet polish.
  3. I let it dry for a minute or two and then used a nail brush (I got one in a manicure kit a long time ago) and brushed the excess glitter off.
  4. At this point if you want you can do a second coat of polish and glitter if you want more coverage.
  5. Then just seal the glitter with a top coat or two of the clear nail polish and your done!
Easy huh?

Growth Ruler

Here is where I got my inspiration from. I did mine a little bit different but their way is probably much easier. I wanted to make mine fancy pants cuz I want it to be a family heirloom. I plan on marking all of my kids' heights on it annually on their birthday. I might even put their birth heights on there just for fun! I think I am just gonna use a sharpie and try and write extra nice on it! I can't claim all of the credit bcuz Garrett did all of the manly stuff like cutting and routing but I designed/thought of it and stained and did the numbers ;-)
1"x8" 6ft long piece of pine
Made an angled cut like a real ruler has (Sorry Garrett forgot the precise name of the cut)
Then routed inch and foot marks in it
Stained it with some Mini wax I think the color I used was called Provincial. It actually worked out perfectly because I thought I was gonna have to paint the lines after I stained it to make them darker and more noticeable but the stain did the job for me!
I cut out my numbers with an electronic die cutter but you could use a stencil or stickers. Then, I mod-podged them onto the board. I think I did 2-3 coats. Try not to be too messy with the mod-podge because it shows after your all done, oops ;-p
Then we sealed it with some polyurethane semi gloss, hung it up on the wall and put a little boy in front of it!
